Remembering Our Fallen Wall/Photo Exhibition Tribute
"Remembering Our Fallen" is a photo exhibition founded by Patriotic Productions, with a national campaign sponsored by Bellevue University, located in Bellevue, Nebraska, that tours the country in honor of members of the military service who have died from wounds suffered in war zones since September 11, 2001.
Patriotic Productions was formed by Bill & Evonne Williams of Omaha with the belief that, "Warriors of the 21st Century are professionals who volunteered to join the United States Armed Forces. They grew up in the shadow of September 11, 2001, a defining moment for most of them. Many have endured multiple deployments and most return home; some do not. "Remembering Our Fallen" was created to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Its legacy will be that these men and women will never be forgotten and that their names will be remembered and spoken.
Neither Bill nor Evonne are from military families, and neither of them personally served. However, all four of their sons are currntly serving in the military, with two in the Army and two in the Marines.
According to Bill and Evonne's website, "Having a son who served two tours in a war zone helped the Williamses appreciate the sacrifices made by our military and their loved ones. In November, 2010, with the support of the Omaha WorldHerald newspaper, and support of financial sponsors, Bill and Evonne created an exhibit called "Remembering Our Fallen" for Strategic Air and Space Museum. This exhibit included photos of the 98 from Nebraska and western Iowa, who died in The War on Terror since September 11, 2001. Over 325 family members attended the opening event, some driving as long as seven hours one way. Another 750 people attended the exhibit's public opening and ceremony, and the exhibit is now traveling a week at a time throughout Nebraska and western Iowa."
"After realizing the impact this first photo display made upon not only the families of The Fallen, but also the general public, the Williamses felt that this project should be completed in other states and hope to do so to remind people of the cost of freedom while hopefully, helping to lessen the grief of the families."
So far, "Remembering Our Fallen" exhibits have been created for the following states:
